Dr. Fred Smith, Pastor

Pastor Fred has been serving at Tarpley Baptist Church since December 2019. Prior to this pastorate, he served as the Senior Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Tyler, TX for 14 years and the First Baptist Church, Worland, Wyoming for 8 years. He has also served on the Ministerial staff in Copperas Cove (TX), Cotulla (TX) and Harlingen (TX) for 10 years.

Pastor Fred holds degrees from The University of Mary-Hardin Baylor (B.A.), Southwestern Seminary (M.Div.) and Denver Seminary (D.Min).

While preaching is his primary calling, Pastor Fred has always had an underlying passion for worship and missions. From leading worship to helping church plants and adopting missionaries around the world, from local missions and sending out missionaries, to casting the vision and challenge to reach an Unreached, Unengaged People Group in East Asia, he has served the local church.

Pastor Fred and his wife Lisa have served in various ministries together since the early 1980’s. They are the proud parents of three children and four grandchildren.
